Research Interests
Bang joined the Hirst group in March 2024 as a Research Fellow in Theoretical and Computational Chemistry working on implementing novel quantum-computing techniques for drug discovery as part of the Wellcome Leap’s Q4Bio project. Bang completed his PhD at the University of Cambridge in 2021 where he worked on understanding the symmetry and topology properties of multiple self-consistent-field wavefunctions. His main research interests lie in the use of symmetry via group and representation theories to develop new electronic-structure theories and methods. He is the principal developer and maintainer of QSym², a robust program for analysing the symmetry properties of important quantum-chemical quantities (https://qsym2.dev/).
