Joe Heeley joined the Hirst group in August 2023 as a Post Doctoral Researcher. His project focuses on using machine learning to develop and encourage sustainable processes in chemical synthesis. Joe completed his PhD at the University of Bristol where he worked on combining synthesis, DFT and machine learning to make reliable predictions of regioselectivity in Pd-catalysed CH functionalisation reactions.
